Mark Paul Petrick is an award-winning artist and photographer. His work in a variety of media, including photography, video, performance, printmaking and installation art, has been exhibited in prominent venues such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Walker Art Center, The Art Institute of Chicago, and The Des Moines Art Center, among others. Since the early 1980's he has worked primarily in photography.

Mark has been a long-time student of Indian art and spiritual traditions. He made his first extended tour of India over the winter of 1993-94, traveling and photographing throughout the country for nearly 3-months. He returned in the winter of 1998-99 for two months, traveling mostly in south India, and again in the fall of 1999 for a 3-month tour, mostly in northern India, and again for several months in 2001-2002. He considers the images that he makes in India to be part of his ongoing India Pictures project. The pictures reflect his interest in the sacred and secular, ancient and modern, and urban and rural aspects of India's strong visual culture.
