About Mark Paul Petrick

Mark Paul Petrick is an award-winning artist utilizing the craft of photography to represent his subjects, as well as the poetry of concepts and visual situations.

He settled in Iowa in 1983 after receiving his MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Along with college teaching, and work in publishing and communications, he has undertaken a number of projects: a series of portraits of people practicing meditation; triptychs combining sacred symbols with panoramic photographs and illustrations; work in photomontage; landscapes; a body of photographs from several extended periods in India, and more recent photographic book projects. In 2016 he resettled in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Mark’s work in a variety of media including video, performance, artist books, printmaking, installation, and photography, has been exhibited at such prestigious institutions as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Chicago Art Institute, the Walker Art Center, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Des Moines Art Center, among others.
